Outstanding Olympian and five-times gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave is to be honoured with a sculpture located at the entrance to Marlow Bottom.
The inauguration is at 11am on Sunday 3rd May 2015 and Marlow Rowing Club members have an open invitation to attend to celebrate the achievements of their President.
The sculpture will be located at the entrance to Marlow Bottom, between the entrance and that to Bencombe Farm and Rebellion Brewery. Parking is potentially a problem, so please come by foot if you can.
Hungry rowers will be able to enjoy smoothies, milkshakes, beans and eggs on toast, porridge, banana bread, malt loaf, tea, coffee and other healthy foods when the new MRC cafe opens in the bar tomorrow.
Initial hours are from 9am-noon on Saturday and Sunday but opening hours will be extended over the next few weeks and the cafe is open to all MRC members and parents as well as all rowers.
The menu has been put in place with advice from Junior MRC coach Bret King, and Donna Thacker (who has cooked for discerning individuals such as Sir Chris Patten) will be running the cafe. Donna also presents a food programme for Marlow FM as well as running her business Seriously Good Food.
Donna welcomes input from junior parents (she'd love some help behind the counter) and will have a comments book for rowers and individuals to make suggestions.
Rowers presending their key fob are entitled to a a 20% discount on prices (which match those of a well-known Marlow cafe popular with rowers).
All the food has been locally sourced and is seasonal, wholesome and healthy with no artificial anything.
In between training sessions all rowers will be able to relax, refresh and re-energise.
We look forward to welcoming you tomorrow from 9am!
Back by popular demand, Marlow Rowing Club will again have a marquee located at the start enclosure during Henley Royal Regatta on Thursday 2 July 2015.
