MRC results for the 2014-15 season - up to 15 following Henley and the Women's Head of the River. Particular mention too to Jordan Beecher (pictured) who won the LTA para-rowing trials at the weekend.
We have passed a milestone with the new building, having reached "practical completion" stage with the builders. This means that while there are still minor works to do, and snagging to tidy up, the building is basically fit to go. This does mean that builders will continue to access the building over the coming weeks, including changing rooms, to remedy some known issues and to activate the lift.
Therefore the new club will be opening to the membership generally this weekend, to co-incide with the Long Distance Sculls on Saturday.
2014 Long Distance Sculls
After an enforced rest last year during our rebuild we are pleased to announce that we will be running the Long Distance Sculls event again, on Saturday 25th October 2014.
We are offering one division over the long course, suitable for singles, doubles and quads.
Entries on BROE
Tickets will be £5, and will be available on the door and online. The format will be pretty much like last time, although we cannot guarantee quite such a photogenic sunset.
How you can help us build a facility for the community and Olympic athletes of the future
Very soon we will be opening our new home, the state of the art Marlow Water Sports Hub providing a world class community sports facility for rowing and sculling, para-rowing, canoeing, para-canoeing, triathlon and open water swimming. Although we can complete the building, we still need to raise more money to fit out the gym and complete the purchase of the land freehold.
After an exhausting weekend of seat racing and testing, all four of Marlow's junior girls plus Alex Haynes have been picked to represent GB this summer. Molly Harding and Heidi Long are off to the Junior World championships in Hamburg in August. Molly will race in the quad while Heidi is in the coxless four. Meanwhile, Rosalind Wilson, Erica Holmes and Alex Haynes will be packing their bags for Libourne near Bordeaux where this years Coupe de la Jeunesse (European Championships) takes place at the end of July. The girls will be racing in the quad and single respectively, while Alex has been selected for the double scull.
Bret King has been appointed as the sculling coach for the Coupe girls and the squad will be training out of Bisham before they go away so if you see them give them a cheer.
Congratulations to them all.
