Outstanding Olympian and five-times gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave is to be honoured with a sculpture located at the entrance to Marlow Bottom.

The inauguration is at 11am on Sunday 3rd May 2015 and Marlow Rowing Club members have an open invitation to attend to celebrate the achievements of their President.

The sculpture will be located at the entrance to Marlow Bottom, between the entrance and that to Bencombe Farm and Rebellion Brewery. Parking is potentially a problem, so please come by foot if you can.

*ALL PLACES ARE NOW FULL*

We have been contacted by local GP, Shona Lockie:
"I am a local GP at Marlow surgery, and have organised for a charity called "CRY", who Sir Steven Redgrave supports, to come on 21st and 22nd March. They can screen any young person for unknown heart problems, if they are aged 14-35. I know this is something that many rowers have been keen to do.

It costs just £45. I am giving up my time for free, and any proceeds are going to Marlow Hockey Club. I was hoping you would be able to send the details of this out to all your members to see if anyone would like to have this done."

You can read more in this flyer about this.

In this edition, racing updates, bar opening, rugby in the bar, bar membership, gym memberships, second club memberships, and the final cost of the building.

We have passed a milestone with the new building, having reached "practical completion" stage with the builders. This means that while there are still minor works to do, and snagging to tidy up, the building is basically fit to go. This does mean that builders will continue to access the building over the coming weeks, including changing rooms, to remedy some known issues and to activate the lift.

Therefore the new club will be opening to the membership generally this weekend, to co-incide with the Long Distance Sculls on Saturday.
