Senior

The Marlow Senior squads have a strong track record, with a reputation for excellence. We have a proud history of Marlow members representing Great Britain in the Olympics and Paralympics.  Our Juniors also have an outstanding long-term record with a significant number selected to row internationally; this provides a talent pipeline to the Senior squads.

Our Senior Squad is a huge focus for the club.  We have a full-time high performance coach and have invested heavily in a fleet of Filippis and Empachers all targeted at supporting our Seniors to stand on the podium at Henley Women’s and Henley Royal Regattas.

We pride ourselves in the spectrum of rowing ambitions we support, our welcoming environment,  the quality of our facilities, the best fleet in the area, our outstanding coaching team and access to two of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames.

Marlow Rowing Club has a rich history in achieving wins at the highest level of club rowing in the UK. As a performance-based squad, our senior men and women are targeting all major competitions, especially the major head races, Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta. We are focused on competition and our standards are increasing. We are looking for experienced and competitive rowers who have the commitment and drive to succeed. Following a structured program, squad members are expected to be competent on and off the water, being regularly tested for both physiological development and boat speed. If this sounds like you, get in touch to discuss our Senior Program.

  • Under 23

This squad was initially proudly formed to provide support to any MRC junior graduates who were home during the university holidays and needed to continue training. Over time the group has opened to anyone in the Marlow area, and is  ideal for someone taking a gap year.

Whilst many of you will already be on prescribed training programs, you will benefit from a dedicated high-performance coach with U23 experience, flexibility with training times, and access to the clubs fleet, and gym facilities.

  • Senior Development

Whilst our senior and masters squad offer a very competitive edge, we know that not everyone is ready to jump straight in. We have a very supportive team of coaches with over 100 years of experience between them that are here to get you where you aspire to be.

The senior development squad is a gateway squad established to help adults with competitive potential to transition from Learn to Scull to other squads in the club. Typically we would expect people to spend up to a year in the squad. The initial focus is on refining single sculling technique, learning crew skills and then developing sweep skills. Ideally each squad member will race competitively and hopefully win before moving into another squad.

Moving on to the next step is by coaches recommendation and the ethos is that of a competitive squad which brings with it expectations in terms of training commitment.
