The womens masters struck gold three times over the weekend. Clare Haley beat off stiff competition from Swantje, Reading Rowing Club and finally City of Bristol RC to take the WB 1x title.  She then teamed up with Dawn Thompson in the WA 2x to beat Norwich in the final.  The WB 4+ of Ruth Naylor, Anna Brazinova, Jo Chesney and Victoria Parsons, coxed by Lisa Knill recorded an emphatic win in the straight final against Peterborough.

Mike Parsons reports on the Mens racing:

Henley Masters once again provided some excellent competition for the Young (?) Veterans Squad.  Racing started on Friday with the C4- in contention against an all-star Tyrian crew until a mid-race mishap ended medal hopes, the Tyrian crew went on to win the event.  The D8+ had a great race against Leander boat club of Canada but were unable to push an early race advantage all the way to the line and paid the price against some race hardened former Olympians.  The D4- had committed heavily to the D8 and suffered for it in their race against Bridgnorth.  The B8+ had a great race against Crabtree winning by 1 1/4l lengths in 3:26.  The C8 beat Christchurch and Opporto to earn a finals slot where they came up against a second Crabtree crew, this had a number of blues and internationals on-board.  The final was the last race on Saturday and as in previous years, was the fastest race of the day.  Crabtree turned the tables and won by one length in a time of 3:20.  It’s now one all and we look forward to squaring up at Maidenhead and availing of the invitation to race on Opporto.   A great set of results and all made possible and with big thanks to the excellent support from coach John Stephenson.

Congratulations to all of our masters crews!
