Squads

Development Squad

Coach: Mike Landers
To prepare members to join competitive Senior or Masters squads within 12 months.
To develop competency in sculling technique up to Silver and Gold Sculling Proficiency Award*
To develop Watermanship and understanding of steering crew boats
To provide opportunities to improve both sculling and sweep rowing
To develop physical fitness and strength
To compete at local Novice and Club level events, eg Marlow, Maidenhead, Reading.

Para/ Adaptive Squad

Coach: Bruce Lynn
Broad range of aspirations from:
simply taking part and getting the chance to row, all the way through to,
racing at Championships events at all levels, from HWR to the Olympics.

Oldies

Recreational rowing
Maintain a level of strength and fitness
Be very sociable

Junior Women J15-18

Coach: Peter Chambers

Continued development along the British Rowing Level 3 and Level 4 pathway
Compete and win at club level competitions
Compete and win at Championship level competitions such as National Schools and Henley Royal Regatta
Support athletes who attempt selection for national junior squads

Junior Men J15-18

Continued development along the British Rowing Level 3 and Level 4 pathway
Compete and win at club level competitions
Compete and win at Championship level competitions such as National Schools and Henley Royal Regatta Support athletes who attempt selection for national junior squads

Junior Men and Women J14

Coach: Mike Parsons
Continued development of junior rowers from JDS or JLTR Compete at National Schools in May and National Juniors in July dependent on the squad Compete at local regattas including Marlow Spring and Marlow Town

Junior Development Squad

Develop junior rowers after they have graduated from a Junior Learn To Row Program

Recreational Squad

To provide a safe and sociable environment in which members can row or scull together. The Recreational squad is an un-coached group which is self-organised and has access to club bookable boats. It is for: graduates from Development squad, who have achieved independent competence; members of Senior or Masters squads for whom a coached, competitive programme is no longer attractive.

Masters Men

To win at ‘Club level’ events, eg Maidenhead, Molesey, Reading. This does not mean that MM cannot compete at Championship events, but these are not the main target.

Senior Women

To attain podium positions at at high quality Club level events and ‘Championship level’ events, eg Tideway Heads, Met Regatta, Henley Women’s Regatta, National Championships.

Senior Men

Podium positions at high quality Club level events and at ‘Championship level’ events, eg Tideway Heads, Met Regatta, Henley Royal Regatta, National Championships.

Young Vets

To win at ‘Championship level’ events, eg Tideway Heads, Henley Masters, National Masters, World Masters

Masters Women

To win at ‘Club-level’ events, eg Maidenhead, Weybridge, Reading. Some of the more ambitious MW go on to compete at Championship events, such as Henley Masters, National Masters and World Masters.
